Head Bartender (London)- The Cauldron Magical Cocktail Experience

Reporting to: General Manager
Hours: 40 hours - the position is on offer as a full-time placement within the venue. The hours will be split between tipped shifts spent on-service and admin shifts ( @ $100 per shift - expected to equate to approx five hours worth of BOH work - or until requirements are met)
Purpose of the role: The role is designed to bridge the gap between higher management and staff members performing the day to day service behind the bar Both in communication and responsibility. The role will include organising the bar, assisting more junior members of staff with their job responsibilities and being the primary and foremost line of quality control.
Main duties will include:
Generating documents for and adhering to opening and closing procedures
Enforcing said procedures with staff members more junior
Performing weekly stock takes alongside management and making purchase recommendations based upon those reports
Performing CGS checks alongside management and making purchase recommendations based upon those reports
Adhering to and understanding budget restrictions when making purchase requests
Assisting with EOD till/float closing procedures and making cash drops to the safe.
Leading service, supporting staff members more junior and generally partaking and being aware of any and all proper bar operations
First line of quality control. Having to vouch for the consistency and quality of any and all drinks sent out of the bar whether they are made by the head bartender or other members of staff.
Generally monitoring staff performance and ability behind the bar. Promoting good culture as laid out by senior management/the beverage programme leader (David Duckworth C.O.O.)
Creating rotas under the initial supervision of management and in conjunction with the management teams/venue needs.
Leading service, promoting good culture and a particular working ethos.
Being fair and responsible to all members of staff employed at the Cauldron.
Assisting management in the upstairs experience on occasion i.e. oversight of staff on non customer facing days, assistance with ordering (Fruit, alcohol, dry ice) monitoring the use of time and hours worked by staff on these days.
Input on concept and service design
Suggesting and communicating on potential improvements to the service design or iterating upon the current offering at The Cauldron. Not however, making alterations without prior discussion and approval from more senior management.
When the position is performed effectively the head bartender should be able to be focussed solely on bar operations and making service as efficient and effective as possible.
As the leading force on the bar, regular problems can be solved and junior bartenders assisted without the need for intervention from management. The Head bartender may not take ownership of roles defined to management but should be in a position to communicate and make recommendations. They are also to provide a communication bridge between staff and upper management and be on the front line of quality control for any and all bar related products.
The ideal candidate not only has the industry experience in the pub and restaurant industry, but is creative, collaborative, and tenacious. Growth mindset is a must.
This is a full time role
Reporting to: Reports to the General Manager, who in turn reports to the UK Operations Manager. Will be trained by the company’ Expansion Consultants and work one-on-one with them as part of ongoing professional development.
Time requirements: The position is offered on a full-time basis for service including a half day of admin day per week.
Purpose of the role: The Head Bartender will oversee the extra drinks served in The Cauldron Magical Experience. It will be your responsibility to maintain company's high standards, ensure our guests have a memorable experience and enforce company policies where necessary.
Main Duties will include:
Fulfilling drink orders
Ensuring pre-batched cocktail is
Stock management and purchasing recommendations to be submitted to the UK Operations Manager
CGS checks and par-level maintenance; purchasing recommendations to be submitted to the UK Operations Manager
Oversight on all opening and closing procedures
Properly scheduled bartenders and barbacks, and monitors bar speed of service during events. Coaches bartenders as needed. Keeps alcohol in safe, clean, and organized storage areas, and ensures that pub is clean and tidy.
Manage staff in all aspects of their daily service routines
Have an in depth knowledge of all roles performed within the venue
Hire staff when necessary (in conjunction with staff members reporting to)
Ensure that staff adhere to company policies and procedures, taking appropriate disciplinary procedures if/where necessary
Ensure staff are clocked in and out and are arriving on time
Internal cash handling systems are adhered to and all transactions are reported and accounted for each day.
Ability to manage and demonstrate proven results with liquor costs, labor and controllable expenses. Good with data and Excel.
2+ years experience in managing and operating fast-paced hospitality experiences
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and weekends
Comfortable engaging with customers in a calm, happy, and productive way
4+ years industry experience
Has worked as a bartender for a number of years and has extensive understanding of bar equipment
Proficiency with Excel or Sheets, Xero or QuickBooks
Has an aptitude for learning and using new software needed for job
A creative and imaginative problem-solver
